Set of Six French Multipl's Chairs in Stunning Mottled Paint

This rare set of six French 1940s Multipl’s metal dining chairs is in excellent original condition and features an amazing mottled painted surface of grey, green, red, and blue. Designed by Joseph Mathieu and made by Pierre Benite in Lyon, these chairs are an iconic part of French Industrial Furniture history. Multipl’s was, in its day, the main competitor to Tolix, although Multipl’s did not survive. Each chair was hand-pressed in huge industrial presses before being hand-welded together. They make an exceptional design statement but are also a good and very comfortable practical choice as dining chairs for regular use. And they stack when not in use! Perfect around a rustic wooden dining table, or outside in the garden, they will give you decades of pleasure and comfort. Please note that if they are going in the garden, we would recommend clear-coating to preserve the paint.
