19th C Portuguese Hand-Painted Majolica Cat

We absolutely adore this incredibly life-like three-dimensional and very detailed terracotta cat, hand-painted in shades of grey and black. Her eyes, nose and whiskers are so life-like you will think her real from a distance. In amazing antique condition and stamped “J. Belo (Filio), Caldas da Rainha, Portugal” on the underside, we would keep her indoors to preserve the original paint which has a tiny bit of wear on the edges of the ears and tail. J. Belo was a famous maker of majolica beginning in the early 19th C.

Rare Form French Faux Bois Bench

What a stunner! This rare form faux bois bench was hand-made in the 1940s and is in wonderful, restored condition. Its gently curved back with branch decoration is very comfortable and there are wonderful little details like the “latches” on the outside railing near the seat. It has undergone some restoration and has been inside for many years (hence the very light patina), but it will serve you well in the garden if installed on stone or gravel to prevent water-wicking through the feet. It should be covered or brought inside in harsh winter climates, but is quite sturdy and will give you decades of pleasure at the end of an allée or anywhere you would view your garden in all its glory.

Pair of French Mid-Century Cast Stone Bowl Planters on Pedestals

These mid-century modern planters offer commodious planting wells and a striking form that will lend a statuesque presence anywhere in your garden. In wonderful vintage condition with a few very minor chips but no cracks or repairs, they are large enough to support a profuse display of blooms and waving grasses. Original center drain holes are present and the tops lift off for easy transport. They can remain outside year-round in all climates, provided they are installed on gravel or stone to prevent wicking and should be emptied of plant material and dirt and the openings covered in harsh winter climates. They can also be used as birdbaths if you seal the drain holes. Approximate weight is 100 lbs. per planter.
