Italian 19th C Curved Console Table with Triple Gilding and White Marble Top

This stunning Italian table has enough sparkle to lift an entire room! The wooden base is beautifully carved and water-gilded with three different shades of gilding--a rich golden yellow, a mellow golden-pink, and a lighter matte gold, so it is not too shiny. It features its original curved white Carrara marble top and is in very good antique condition with a few minor knocks to the knees (shown in photos). The motif of grapes, anthemion leaves and baskets lend an "over-the-top" note, as they are gilded to stand out in color and relief from the rest of the table. So pretty and versatile, it would be stunning in a larger powder room, hallway, library or bedroom.

Near-Pair of Very Large German Oval Galvanized Planters #3 with Custom Surface

We were fortunate to source several near-pairs of these marvelous galvanized tub planters that date to the 1930s and had them custom-finished by a very talented artisan in Spain. This is one of three near-pairs that we have (the fourth near-pair is smaller). The color of the paint is a bit more vibrant than the photos show and the one that reads pink is, in fact, not. You will LOVE these potted up with tulips, daffodils and grape hyacinths for the spring, colorful annuals for the summer and wavy grasses for the fall. They are virtually indestructible, have their original drain holes, and can work in a cottage garden setting as well as a contemporary one. And the painted surface is in acrylic and will last a lifetime. Approximate weight is 45 lbs each.

Fabulous French Bombé Wrought Iron and Marble Console Table

This is a striking console with its bombé form and luscious espresso-colored marble top. In addition, one can raise or lower the height at will, as the table attaches to the wall and bears no weight on the ground. The newer marble top has cream and peach-colored veins and a double ogee edge for that perfect finishing touch. The base has a couple of flower petals missing but nothing that impairs its look or function. Perfect in a hallway, bedroom or wherever you want to bring a touch of the outdoors in (and it can stay outside year-round). Weight is approximately 120 lbs.

English 19th C Rectangular Cast Iron Table Base with Grey Marble Top

This is a charming and quirky little table that is just perfect for holding coffee and the Sunday papers (does anyone do that anymore?) next to your favorite library chair. In two parts, the original grey cut-corner and beveled striated marble top sits atop the base, which has a very pretty design and black-over-green paint. The marble top has some scratches and nicks to it that only make it more Wabi-Sabi. You can also use it as a coffee table in front of a loveseat. Weight is approximately 100 lbs.

Early 19th C English Mahogany D-Shaped Console Table

This early 19th C mahogany console is such a utilitarian piece and would be wonderful as a desk, serving table, or sofa table. The base and apron were painted a pale matte gray a long time ago and there are losses to the bottom edge of the apron shown in the photos, as well a bit of wormwood damage to the underside of the curved edges, but the top is in fine condition and the table completely sturdy. For this price and a new coat of paint, you can’t go wrong! Weight is approximately 55 lbs.

Small 19th C American Oval Cast and Wrought Iron Table Base

This substantive iron table base is a real honey and would be fabulous topped with a marble slab or thick glass top. In its original (and now faded) red-over-green paint with minor surface rusting, the lines are sinuous and the construction very solid. Resting on unusually-shaped feet and with vertical “keepers” on the oval surface to hold the top in place, It would make a stunning and unusual coffee table for a small space or a side table next to you favorite library chair. Wonderful condition! Approximate weight is 50 lbs. The table base can also stay outdoors year-round.

Rare Pair of Small French 19th C Cast Iron Urns with Lion Heads and Ruffled Rims

This style of urn is hardly ever found and they are just wonderful! With their heavily-ruffled rims, semi-lobed bodies, and lion-head ring handles, they are perfect for a stunning flower-filled tabletop display inside or out. Dating to the 1880s but unsigned, they are most definitely French and feature their original silver paint with minor surface rusting. Sturdy in all weather, these can remain outside year-round, but we do recommend emptying them of dirt and covering the openings in cold climates. Weight is approximately 15 lbs. each. Please note that one lion-head has lost its jaw and so the ring is wired to the head instead of hanging freely.

Fabulous Pair of French 19th Century Bronze and Marble Garniture Urns

This pair of diminutive garniture urns is just sensational. The intricate and deeply-cast bronze urns are shaped identically to the famous Warwick urn and feature fruit, flowers and elaborate swags in exquisite detail. Mounted on deeply-reeded and flared octagonal pedestals of black marble, and with a twisted rope accent in bronze to the base, they would make a superlative addition to your formal mantlepiece. We, however love garniture urns for a little-known benefit. They are the perfect size for standard pillar candles and completely heat-proof as well, so never any worries about spill damage.

Oil on Canvas of an English Barnyard Scene with Staddlestones

We bought this large and extremely well-executed English barnyard scene many years back because it pictured granaries built on staddlestones. Figuring a picture was worth a thousand words, we've educated thousands on staddlestones and are now putting the painting on the market. Apparently unsigned (we've not removed the frame; however), it is a beautiful and substantial painting, featuring multiple barns, roosters, chickens, a shaggy dog, and several staddlestones. Its original carved giltwood frame has a few nicks and losses, and the painting could do with a good cleaning, but nothing so substantial as to detract from the overall effect. Wonderful in a country house library!

18th Century Gilded Oval Girandole Mirror with Triple Candelabra

This delicate oval mirror is an outstanding example of fine English or German craftsmanship in the 18th Century. It features hand-carved wood and gesso gilding with triple candelabra, double shell decoration, beaded bellflower molding, and original glass. It would be perfect over a dining room mantel or sideboard or as a focal point in a posh Continental salon. Please note that there are numerous surface cracks on the arms of the candelabra, typical for a piece of this age, along with various small nicks and chips to the frame. Weight is approximately 35 lbs. and it will need to be crated for shipping.

Set of Four French Cane-Backed Louis XV-Style Dining Chairs

This lovely set of very comfortable French dining chairs comprises three side chairs and one armchair. They are in excellent and very sturdy condition with no breaks or repairs to the caning and beautiful detailing on legs and aprons of the seats. They will give you decades of pleasure at a small round dining table or used separately in a bedroom, library or hallway. The white paint and upholstered slip seats are about 10 years old and the paint has a few chips here and there, but is easy to touchup yourself. Alternately, you can repaint them in your preferred color, and the slip seats are a snap to recover with fabric and a staple gun. Set of Three French Cast Stone Planters Signed "La Vieille Jarre"

Rustic 19th C French Elm Carpenter's Worktable / Console Table

We found this stunning late 19th C elm worktable on one of our trips to Bordeaux and just couldn’t resist. In lovely untouched condition, the top slab of elm is 5 inches thick and the vice that abuts the left leg easily moves into a vertical position (or can be removed altogether). The front legs are straight, while the back legs are canted to provide added stability and a nice design twist. Featuring its original hardware and the sensational unvarnished and worn patina that only pieces of this age display, we think it makes a fabulous console table in your front entry or library. Please note that this table weighs about 200 lbs. and the overall depth is 20.75” (16” depth for the tabletop and 4.75” for the vise on the left). It is totally solid and without any wobbles.

Late 19th C French Wrought Iron Dining Table Base

We love French garden tables, especially ones with such sinuous design and presence. Dating to the late 19th C, this one would make a great addition to your terrace, garden, or wine cave to display your wine selections for that special meal or as a dining table inside or out. In excellent antique condition, it is very sturdy with no wobbles and you can pair it with a top as large as you like (and save the cost of shipping the top!). The table base does have a speckling of light surface rusting all over but nothing that impairs its functionality or beauty. And of course it can be sandblasted and repainted to your custom specifications. Feel free to leave this beauty outside year-round in all climates, but we recommend covering it in winter to protect the paint. Please note that we have an identical table with its original top (FTRE 1020) available should you want a pair of matched bases. Also, we have paired a simple antique white marble top with this base that fits perfectly with almost no overhang.

Pair French Nautical Oak Candelabra with Drinking Glasses/Candle Holders

Occasionally we find wild and wonderful things on our buying trips and these are particularly enticing. Made from oak barrel staves and integral plexiglas stands on either end, each candelabrum features 6 weighted and stemmed drinking glasses that won’t spill during a patch of rough water. And since most of our clients are not seafaring types, we have put short candles in each glass to make a very special tabletop display. Place them end-to-end on your large dining table for a special conversation piece that is also utilitarian. Or bring them aboard your yacht and break open a bottle of bubbly. Please note that the height of the candelabra with the glasses is 8 inches, but the height of the oak stave holder is 5.63 inches. Lastly, most of the glasses show a line of etching inside that does not detract from look or functionality.

Pair of Enormous Saucer Planters by Willy Guhl

Designed by the iconic Willy Guhl in the 1960s and made of strong and lightweight fiber cement by Eternit, SA of Switzerland, these numbered saucer planters are impressive for their size and patina. One is in excellent condition with only a very small, well-weathered rim chip, while the other has been repaired with staples and mortar on the bottom side but is very solid. Please note you will not be able to see the repair when planted. Pot them up with low mounded moss or sedum and waving grasses for an exceptional contemporary display in your garden or on your terrace or beach house deck. Please note that each planter weighs about 50 lbs. and they should be emptied of plant material and turned upside-down for over-wintering in northern climates.

Two French 19th C Children's Folding Garden Chairs

We have had this model of garden chairs before, but have never seen them in a children’s size. Constructed of wrought iron and sporting a beautiful weathered painted patina with pale blue-green paint and a moderate amount of surface rusting, they are in very good and untouched antique condition. One chair has a slightly bent leg, but this impairs neither form nor function and they fold flat for easy transport. Perfect for small children in your garden or on your terrace or balcony, they also would be wonderful inside. Weight is approximately 10 lbs each. Please note that we can have these sandblasted and painted to your custom color specifications for a modest upcharge.
