Rare Pair of 19th C French Cast Iron Handled Urns by Faure a Revin

Urns by the obscure 19th C French Alps Foundry “Faure a Revin” are quite rare, as the foundry was most famous for producing stoves. This fabulous pair of semi-lobed urns with impressive scrolled handles in a dark brown patina are in perfect condition. Dating to the 1880s and stamped "Faure a Revin" on top of the feet, they would make a stunning addition to your dining table and are hefty enough to handle large floral arrangements. Alternatively, place them on pedestals flanking a door or on a garden wall to mark the entrance. Sturdy in all weather, these can remain outside year-round, but we do recommend emptying them of dirt and covering the openings in cold climates. Weight is approximately 40 lbs. each.

Early 20th C French Rectangular Wrought Iron Dining Table

We love French garden dining tables, and this one is a beauty. With curvilinear hand-forged iron legs in crusty old paint and a simple iron top, this table has a myriad of uses (wine-tasting, dining, writing, potting, or display indoors or out). From Lyon, the culinary capital of France, it would make a great addition to your terrace, garden, or wine cave to display your wine selections for that special meal or as a dining table for two. In very good antique condition, the top does have a slight bit of separation on the edges which affects neither form nor function (see photos). We would recommend sandblasting and repainting to your custom color specifications if it is to be used outdoors although it is perfectly sound in its current condition. Approximate weight is 85 lbs.

Pair Tall French 19th C Wrought Iron Plant Stands

Pieces that add height to your terrace or garden are always in high demand and we found these lovely 19th C wrought iron plant stands near St. Émilion. Hand-wrought and in old slightly-chippy white over green paint with small areas of surface rusting, they are beautifully-constructed and properly balanced so that they will support large plants without tipping. Each stand has a long and newish bolt inside the top ring that we think allows you to anchor the bottom of the flowerpot to the stand. The overall scrolling form is airy without being too delicate. We love the worn paint as is, but it can always be refinished to a color you prefer. Wonderful inside or out, they will give you decades of pleasure and utility. No worries about leaving these outside year-round, but we would recommend covering them to preserve the paint. Weight is approximately 40 lbs. per stand.

Set of Six Rare Authentic French "Model A" Tolix Chairs in Original Blue Paint

This wonderful set of six Tolix Model A metal dining chairs is in excellent condition and features its original lovely dark blue paint with a bit of surface rusting. Originally designed in 1934 by the founder of Tolix, Xavier Pauchard, this chair became a huge hit with bistros in France because of its design and durability (it was the first furniture dipped in molten zinc to withstand rusting). The original Model A chair was modified in 1956 to improve the chairs’ stacking feature, and the original back slat design was changed from a flat panel to one with an embossed design. These chairs with their flat back panel pre-date 1956 and are much more rare than those with an embossed back. Such is the iconic status of the Model A chair that examples are on display in New York’s Museum of Modern Art and Paris’s Pompidou Centre. Model A chairs make an exceptional design statement but are also a good and very comfortable practical choice as dining chairs for regular use. Perfect around a rustic wooden dining table, or outside in the garden, they will give you decades of pleasure and comfort. Please note that if they are going in the garden, we would recommend clear-coating to preserve the paint.

Late 19th C French Wrought Iron Dining Table

We love French garden tables, especially ones with such sinuous design and presence. Dating to the late 19th C, it would make a great addition to your terrace, garden, or wine cave to display your wine selections for that special meal or as a dining table for four inside or out. In excellent antique condition, it is very sturdy with no wobbles. The table does have some small chips to the paint and a few small spots of surface rusting on the edges, but nothing that impairs its functionality or beauty. Feel free to leave this beauty outside year-round in all climates, but we recommend covering it in winter to protect the paint.

Rare French 19th C Wrought Iron Table from Arras with Lion's Paw Feet

“Arras” garden furniture first emerged around 1840 when one of three companies manufacturing metal products in the town of Arras, Grassin-Baledans, began to specialize in garden furniture and started producing artistic ironwork. All authentic Arras pieces are entirely hand-forged and riveted, using metal tubing and flat metal. The furniture was intended for the high-end market at a time when the privileged classes were discovering the benefits of outdoor living, and the pieces, which later included all types of garden accessories, were made to the highest quality and durability. The original lion's paw foot design was changed to a sleeker hoof design after 1900. This lovely table is in excellent antique condition and features the four original lion’s paw feet (indicating a mid-19th C date) and a sinuous design in keeping with the high quality expected. Wonderful as a drinks or petite dining table inside or out, it has a durable white painted finish that is about 20 years old.

Pair of Tall Cast Iron Medici Urns on Pedestals with French Republic Medallions

We found these urns and pedestals in different parts of France, and have made, what we think is, a successful marriage of them. The urns, which are made of cast iron, with everted lobed rims and quarter-lobed bodies, are in excellent antique condition and retain some of their original blueish green paint, although they have a fair bit of surface rust. The pedestals, which were originally République Française (French Republic) lantern pedestals, are aso cast iron and feature an elaborate scrolled “RF” on the front side. Please note that one of the “RF” signatures has a part missing. Also in their original blueish-green paint, they have moderate surface rusting that works very well with the urns.
