Pair of English Weighted Scottie Bookends

These caught our eye right away, as we have a soft spot in our hearts for Scotties, and we love animal bookends of all sorts. Being made of cast aluminum, however, they wouldn't hold up to our heavy garden books until we had them filled with lead. Now they're perfect and would make a wonderful stocking stuffer for your favorite Scottie owner.

Set of Four Large Painted Holiday/Winter Village Scene Figures

Set of Four Large Painted Holiday/Winter Village Scene Figures

This collection of 4 hand-painted, large Holiday figures on plywood depicting a group of villagers preparing for Christmas is rare and choice. The painting is extremely skilled, very colorful, and the style of the figures is turn-of-the-century (19th to 20th). At present, each of the figures needs to lean up against something, but you can easily adapt them to stand alone. The painting and figures themselves are in excellent condition, but they each have a few screw holes. A wonderful tableau for your Holiday display.

United States, CA 1950s, possibly earlier.

From the left, the dimensions of each piece is as follows:

Woman and Man with Wreath: 28.5" wide x 48.25" hi x .25" thick
Woman in Blue with Child: 16" wide x 48.5" hi x .25" thick
Man with Child in Sleigh: 42" wide x 48.25" hi x .25" thick
Man in Green Jacket: 14" wide x 48.25" hi x .25" thick

Abutted, the four figures measure 100.5" wide x 48.5" hi x .25" thick

Pair of English 19th Century Fireclay Lion Roundels/Fountain Masks

This unusual pair of large fireclay buff-colored lion roundels were originally embedded in a stone wall that flanked a grand staircase. The staircase led from the gardens to an impressive 18th C Georgian manor house in the north of England. Although the roundels are purely decorative, it would be quite easy to convert them into fountain masks and enjoy them spouting water into your swimming pool, spa or jacuzzi. Beautiful condition on the face side of the roundels; minor losses to the sides that were mortared into the wall. PLEASE NOTE that these are priced and sold individually.

Long English Mahogany Lab Table Console

Long English Mahogany Lab Table Console

We love these college laboratory work table, particularly since they are made of durable mahogany and we have changed it up by adding a center panel of clear glass for a different look. Great as dual service pieces...use them as a console/dining counter dividing the living and kitchen area in your apartment, as a sofa table or as a serving table. So versatile! There are some initials carved in the sides by students long ago, but nothing objectionable or anything that detracts from the overall look. Please note we have two available but we are selling them separately. ONLY ONE REMAINING!

Napoleon III Ebonized Bamboo Mirror with Tree of Life Silvered Glass

This sensational Napoleon III mirror is unlike any we've ever seen. Over 7' tall, and with its original silvered and etched eglomise mirror, it features a central serpent-entwined palm tree that represents the Tree of Life, sprouting from a stylized urn and surrounded with a border of ivy leaves. Its "chinoiserie" ebonized bamboo frame reflects the French fascination with all things Eastern and represent the highest style of the period. An intensely beautiful and unique focal point. In very good condition overall. Minor warping to and separation of inner trim piece between mirror and frame has been secured; very small repair to middle left inner trim piece where it had broken. Repair is nearly undetectable. Very minor and tiny age spots to mirrored glass commensurate with age.

German Glass and Chrome Floor Lamp by Besigheimer

This floor lamp is a departure for us, but we just couldn't resist its exceptional design and presentation. The lamp has a chrome base and stem with three separately-lit vertical bubble glass sections that can be lit alone, in tandem with, or without the lights at the top. Made by the German company Besigheimer, the design is classic 1970s and would be perfect adorning a contemporary library or in the corner of a reading nook. Rewired for the US, this lamp is sold without a shade but would look stunning with a black linen cylinder. Overall condition is excellent with one tiny and barely visible dent to the base.

Set of Four Painted Oak Dining Chairs

We bought these beauties in England but think they may be Swedish. In soft sage green paint with incised white splay backs, they would make a lovely addition to a casual eating area. Large 19th C Oval French Tilt-Top Wine-Tasting Table

This stunning oval vendange (wine-tasting) table hails from the Southwest of France and dates to the late 19th Century. The original poplar top and oak base have been beautifully refinished in a translucent pale grey milk paint that has been coated with a water-proof polymer and then waxed for a soft mellow glow. The table has undertones of warm creamy beige, so the overall effect is just beautiful! Perfect for seating six for dining, as a center hall table, desk, or in your wine cellar. Merrow Associates Rosewood and Chromium-Plated Dining Table

We've never understood why the English Mid-Century Modernists are so under-represented in the U.S., especially when their work ticks all our boxes. This Merrow Associates table was designed by Richard Young in the 1960s and is absolutely stunning. From the outstanding figured rosewood veneer to the heavy chromium-plated steel legs, this piece has it all, and makes a powerful statement. Recently polished and cleaned, it is in very good overall condition with a couple of small and barely noticeable shallow scratches, and a small area of slight bubbling to the veneer, but comes with a protective glass top to preserve the rosewood. The table actually seats 6 comfortably, but 2 people have to straddle a leg.

Pair of Gilded Regency-Style Chinoiserie Mirrors

Originally listed as a pair of mirrors, only one remains for sale now, which is the better of the two. A regal form and rare square shape makes this Regency-style chinoiserie mirror intriguing and unusual. The mirror has been fitted with replaced antique glass. Gorgeous in a hallway, over a mantlepiece, or above a bedroom dresser. Please note that there is a small missing piece to the bottom center shell, and there are several minor chips to the gilded wooden frame shown in the photos. Further, the brilliance of the gilding is better shown in the first six photos, as opposed to the other photos, taken in darker conditions.
